Claiming her independence from a manipulative, over-bearing mother has been a full-time job for Hollywood actress Jenna Stone, but finding herself face-to-face with rock star ex-boyfriend and soon-to-be co-lead Dane Hadley will give her a true chance at something better than just a celluloid happy ending.

BETTER THAN THE MOVIE

Once upon a time, there was a beautiful girl who lived in Los Angeles. She wanted nothing more than to be loved, but from the time she was thirteen Jenna Stone has been marketed, pimped out and bartered, all for another person's dreams of fame. Jenna has worked hard for her stardom, but what she needs now is the next rung on the Stardom ladder...and her new movie deal might make her Hollywood's Darling. Except the WWII period drama will co-star her one-and-only ex, a rock star she broke up with over a decade ago.

Onetime actor Dane Hadley has loved his recent success as a rock star, but after his band broke up a return to acting seems the best way to keep the money rolling in. The only problem is his co-star, none other than Jenna Stone, the only girl he ever loved--and the woman who crushed his heart. Working together will be nothing but business...until it isn't. With villains, plot twists and successes better than even Hollywood can write them, true love seems suddenly possible, after all. And the paparazzi will be there to catch everything...

Star Crossed StarTide Book 3 eBook Christine Ashworth

Star Crossed by Christine Ashworth cements my status as a superfan of this series and the author. As soon as this title released, I grabbed it and devoured it as fast as possible. The result? Filling, content and uber-satisfied.

There’s noting like a love story, of second chances, that withstands the test of time and all sorts of complications. Both Jenna Stone and Dane Hadley are searching for their second chance, in the fickle entertainment world and in love.

Together 10 years before, their relationship turned sour, and they went their separate ways. After some success in acting for Jenna and as a musician for Dane, they’re thrown together on the next go-round of their careers, and they’ll have to put up with each other or give up their dreams.

Ashworth deals with some serious issues in Star Crossed, but with grace and humor. Never did I feel weighed down by the drama. More so, the support Dane shows for his love bolsters the storyline. We all want a partner who stands by us, in those good times and bad, and fortunately for Star Crossed, there are way more good times to be had.

Now, we’re really waiting for agent Conway Davis’s story! And I have a feeling she’s going to keep us waiting!

Star Crossed StarTide Book 3 eBook Christine Ashworth Reviews

This was the first book I'd read by Christine Ashworth and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The writing was excellent, and Ashworth gave emotional depth and relatable problems to her Hollywood characters. I especially enjoyed her behind-the-scenes look at the movie business, and the extra touches she gave the story with fun, gossipy media quotes at the beginning of each chapter. The sex scenes were super hot and the language was frank, just like in the movies. *Received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.*
Super hot couple combined with the bitchiest conniving mother ever make for a great read! Jenna and Dane had a love affair 10 years earlier, which Jenna's evil mother broke up by pretending to have her own affair with Dane. Now Jenna and Dane have to work together on a film project they both really need, and of course the old sparks fly. Jenna is determined to NOT reconcile with Dane, who is equally determined to make it work again.

Dane's persistence and Jenna's resistance make for an entertaining read. Christine Ashworth's dialogue, character insights, and romantic scenes are lively and fun as we watch Jenna's resistance crumble in spite of her determination to keep him at arms' length. What woman wouldn't want a guy like him? Without giving anything away, you'll love how the mother problem gets handled. I'm going to have to read this entire series now.
WOW! This book was a ton of fun! The characters immediately grabbed my heart, the world building was rich, engrossing, and well researched, and the story had one of the best villains I've read in a long time.

Actress Jenna Stone is struggling to distance herself from her evil, blackmailing mother. When she is thrown together with her old flame, Dane Hadley (their relationship had been sabotaged by Jenna's mother), the old sparks flare brighter.

As their relationship rekindles on and off the set of the movie they're filming, not only does Dane help Jenna learn to trust and love, but Jenna also takes agency for herself to reclaim herself and stand up to her mother once and for all.

I CANNOT wait to read other books in this series. Highly recommended.

I love reading Christine Ashworth! She is one of the best writers I know at heartfelt, entertaining, you-know-they'll-be-a-happy-ending-but-I-love-the-ride romances. I know the Star Tide books started as a trilogy but there has to be a fourth one for the character that ties the stories together -- the intriguing and lovable Conway.

While there is little new in the plot, Ms. Ashworth pulls it off beautifully. You care about the characters and Jenna, in particular as an abused child and adult, is thoroughly believable. What's more, Ms. Ashworth actually knows what happens on a film set and it's a delight to see Hollywood at its best.
In Star Crossed Christine Ashworth takes up one of my favorite themes--the theme of unlocking the past in order to get on with the future.

Most of us know it’s tough enough to heal a private heartache or parental malpractice. But Ashworth ups the stakes for her heroine actress Jenna Stone and her hero rock singer Dane Hadley, by making their youthful betrayals and heartache terribly public, their private pain writ large in wince-worthy tabloid headlines. Ten years later when Jenna and Dane’s paths cross again that ugly narrative and its vicious authoress threaten both their careers and their second chance at love.

Their story hooked me right away and kept me turning the pages non-stop. I loved Jenna’s interaction with her agent Conway. Ashworth has a talent for creating likable secondary characters. When Jenna and Dane come together on a Hollywood movie set where they play on screen lovers, they’re surrounded by agents, directors, directors’ assistants, make-up and costume people, people they must trust. And yet on the set anyone with a cell phone might be a secret paparazzi, and Ashworth keeps the reader aware of the constant scrutiny that is the price of success in the movie business. The reader feels for Jenna and Dane, caught on camera and off guard time and time again with so much at stake.

Though wary of each other at first, her wounded protagonists summon their generosity and good sense to work together, and rediscover their sizzling chemistry and something deeper. But Ashworth’s antagonist won’t give up or go away and launches an all out attack on their HEA, and it is Jenna who must unlock the past and put it behind her forever. I trust that Ashworth is at work on the next book in the series, maybe about Conway?
