I have a hard time picking out new books to read because I am one of those people that are to overly critical. But I started this series and just can't seem to stop reading them. They certainly have their problems like a bit of inconsistency in length and a strange pattern of main character story followed by an introduction to some secondary in the next story none of which I ever feel like drive the story one direction or another. But the plot already being decided and the course of the lives of the main group already set in motion, along with perhaps a bit to much plot armor hasn't stopped me from obsessing over continuing the story. I love the concept of space travel this series puts in place and the ideas of how the future can and even in some cases should go. It really shows me a world I can believe is possible that happens to be shown through the eyes of a group of people who in this universe live the most interesting lives possible, if not easy ones. Give the First book in the series a read and see space travel done right, amidst a story done fairly well.Product details

Out of the Tank Privateer Tales Book 7 (Audible Audio Edition) Jamie McFarlane Laurel Schroeder Fickle Dragon Publishing Books Reviews
Well.... I guess I’ll keep this short since it strictly my personal opinion. First... I was expecting a book, not a short story. Second... as much as I have enjoyed this series... I feel this short story was a waste of 99 cents and my time. We all know of the PTSD phenomena... have some of my own after 9 yrs in the military and 27 yrs in Law Enforcement ...this story went overboard and was very predictable.. which equals tedium/boredom. Not Mr. McFarland’s best work.... I’m still looking forward to the rest of the series.
Tammy has recovered from wounds inflicted in a recent naval battle. She’s well enough to answer a plea for help from her friend, Shri. When she gets there, her friend has been poisoned. Then someone sets fire to her friend’s house and shoots at the women as they flee. The sheriff gets involved, and Tammy’s boyfriend Liam arrives. In a surprise plot twist, the culprit is revealed. I enjoyed the mystery element in this fast-paced tale that fits in well with the author’s established universe.
Story was short and disjointed, of course main character came out of the tank and was all fixed up but she was complete in pryer book. What's up with that? The character who was also hurt during battle went from great fried to possible lover to killer all on the last three pages of the book.
Please don't get me wrong; but I chose this series for space pirates and i was hoping it was adult in character and storyline. Not sexual but pirate-like. In these off topic mini-books I get lost and bored. The story is ok. She's there for a shipmate. But it's not Privateer. Well written and executed though.
Out of the Tank picks up Jamie McFarlane's Privateer Tales right after the end of Smuggler's Dilemma. Having said that, while you need to have read at least Rookie Privateer, Parlay and Smuggler's Dilemma to have the backstory needed to get the full benefit of Out of the Tank, this story does stand on its own feet and has its own effective story concision. Well written, anyone will enjoy this story - but readers of the series to date (or at least the three books mentioned) will enjoy it much more.
If you are reading the Privateer Tales this is a must read. It builds on the characters and story lines of the first 6 books. Plenty of action and drama set in the future . If you like science fiction you will love it, but be sure to read the other books in order to get the full background and what the characters have been through first. Each book is very good and full of action and adventure set in the future. Sign up for McFarlane's news letters and you will be able to get the first book for free. Happy reading.
Tabby has always known what she wanted. She wanted Liam too, but he'd have to get off his butt and ask her out for that to happen. When Liam swooped in and pull what was left of her body, out of her trashed fighter, she figured actions spoke louder than words. But when he cooked up a scheme to get Mars Protectorate to spring for a new body, that was the final straw. Liam belongs to Tabby, and everyone else better watch out.
Now she has a new body, faster and stronger than her old one. There are just a few loose ends to tie up. An old friend in need. But something isn't right. Backward family members trying to keep her friend down and someone trying to kill them. It's up to Tabby to save the day. And the villain isn't who she thinks it is.
McFarlane brings a new perspective to his ongoing Privateer Tales series. A short and sweet whodunit filled with action and adventure. Fans of the series have been waiting a long time for these two characters to get together, and Jamie doesn't disappoint.
